Summer might be over, but it's time to start planning your trips for this fall, winter, and even through next spring. You can now book Southwest flights all the way through early June 2025 … and maybe save a ton of money (or Southwest Rapid Rewards points) by booking far in advance!
While most airlines allow you to book flights up to 11 months or more in advance of your travels, Southwest Airlines does it a bit differently. They release their fares in batches, going as far out as about seven to nine months. As of earlier this week, it was only possible to book Southwest Airlines flights into early April – even as other carriers are already selling flights through summer 2025.
But that changed this week, as Southwest has now released another two month's worth of flights. The Southwest flight schedule now has flights bookable all the way through June 4, 2025. So if you're trying to plan a trip for this winter or all the way through the spring, you can book those Southwest flights now.
Thrifty Tip: Every single Southwest ticket includes two free checked bags, making it a great airline for ski trips or the holidays!
There's even more reason to book your Southwest flights ASAP: The airline quietly launched a massive sale this week, offering 30% off base fares when using promo code FRIENDS on flights from Oct. 24 through Jan. 31, 2025 – though holidays are excluded. You'll have to act fast, as this sale ends Thursday.
Plus, it's easier than ever to find and book Southwest fares. After decades of going alone and only publishing fares on its own site, Southwest expanded to Google Flights this spring. The airline recently followed up by listing tickets on KAYAK, too.
Nervous about making travel plans all the way into next spring? Southwest always allows free changes or cancellations. That means you can book a flight as far out as early June now, then change or cancel it (for a travel credit) down the line if need be. Southwest also sells new Wanna Get Away Plus fares that allow you a one-time transfer of those travel credits to another person!

Booking the New Southwest Flight Schedule
If your travel dates are flexible, we recommend using Southwest's low fare calendar as it will show you the dates with the cheapest fares over a month-long span.

Otherwise, Google Flights is more powerful than ever with the addition of Southwest. You can use Google's handy, two-month calendar to hone in on the cheapest Southwest flights possible, like these fares from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Denver (DEN).
Just beware that it may take a few hours (or even days) for this new batch of Southwest flights from early April through early June to show up in Google Flights. If you're in a hurry to book something in the late spring, you might want to head straight to Southwest.com.
And as far as cancelations and refunds go with Southwest, they have always offered some of the most generous policies in the industry. Long before other carriers ditched change fees, there has never been a fee to cancel or change your Southwest flight.
You can cancel any Southwest flight and be given a voucher for later use. It's one of the many reasons we're big fans of Southwest Airlines.
Bottom Line
The Southwest flight schedule is now open through June 4, 2025. If you're trying to make travel plans for spring break or even later, you can book those flights now.
Trying to plan something for the summer? You'll have to wait: Southwest says it will extend its schedule again on Oct. 24, releasing flights as far out as Aug. 4.
