Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airlines is aggressively expanding its presence in North America in 2025, adding hundreds more seats to its routes throughout the continent, and adding brand new service to Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport (DFW).

The new nonstop service from DFW to Hong Kong (HKG) will begin April 24 and operate four times a week – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday – all year-round, according to a news release

The flights are already on sale through Cathay Pacific, its Oneworld partners like American Airlines and British Airways, and are searchable through Google Flights.

Cathay will operate one of its huge Airbus A350-1000s on the route, which includes 46 business class seats, 32 premium economy seats, and 256 more economy seats in the back of the plane.

Currently, Cathay Pacific flies nonstop to Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK) and San Francisco (SFO) in the U.S. and Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR) in Canada.

Dallas will be Cathay's eighth North American nonstop route, and a no-brainer for the airline to help travelers connect onward into the U.S. through its Oneworld partner American's massive route network from its Dallas hub. American serves 190 U.S. cities from DFW and 11 more in South and Central America for Cathay flyers.

Cathay Expands Capacity All Over the U.S.

The new route is part of a bigger expansion into North America Cathay appears to be targeting starting this week.

According to schedule data from airline schedule analytics company Cirium, Cathay added several larger planes to its routes in and around the United States in its latest scheduling update. San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), Boston (BOS), New York (JFK), and Chicago (ORD) will have have hundreds more seats flying to and from Hong Kong (HKG) every week.

The A350-1000, which will fly on the new Dallas route, was added to the schedule for the Boston, New York, and Chicago routes in 2025. The airline's 777-300ER planes were added to the Los Angeles and San Francisco routes to bolster capacity, too.

When these changes go into effect, Cathay will have 108 flights per week to and from North America by May 2025.

And while the new frequencies and routes won't fly until next year, we've already started seeing the benefits of major route expansions in the form of fantastic flight deals. Just last week, we found extremely rare Cathay Pacific business class availability from Chicago (ORD) for our Thrifty Traveler Premium members.

These seats were bookable with Cathay's own Asia Miles for 110,000 miles each way, which is already a great deal, especially since you can transfer points from American Express, Bilt, Capital One, and Citi to book. But these flights were also bookable with Avios through Finnair and British Airways, at even lower rates. Plus, since you can combine Avios between programs, points from major bank could be used to book.

And just today, our team found ways to book the brand-new Dallas route using American or Alaska Airlines miles as well!

Bottom Line

Cathay Pacific is aggressively expanding its service to and from North America next year, most notably by adding a new route to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

In addition, the airline is adding thousands more seats per week and will be operating 108 flights per week to and from North America starting in May, creating more opportunities to book with points and miles.
