Delta is throwing everything it can into the Caribbean with a major expansion lined up for next winter, including its first-ever flights to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and resuming service to Grenada, new Caribbean nonstops from major hubs like Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) and Detroit (DTW), and even giving travelers at smaller airports across the country some nonstop routes to the beach.

The Atlanta-based airline unveiled those plans on Friday – and go figure, its powerhouse Atlanta (ATL) hub benefits from the biggest additions. Delta will begin offering daily flights from Atlanta to St. Vincent (SVD) and Grenada (GND) on Boeing 737-800 aircraft this winter. St Vincent is a brand-new destination for Delta while the airline flew to Grenada pre-pandemic.

Like nearly all of Delta's Caribbean additions, those flights from Atlanta will run through the winter season, starting Dec. 20 and running until April 12, 2026.

Other major Delta hubs are getting in on the action down south, too:

  • Detroit (DTW) to Cayman Islands (GCM) will operate once a week on Saturdays from late December through mid-April
  • Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Nassau (NAS) is also on tap for Saturday flights from late December through mid-April
  • Boston (BOS) to St. Thomas (STT) will begin flying daily starting Dec. 20, but only through Jan. 5, 2026

Both of those Minneapolis and Detroit additions ran before the pandemic while Delta last flew nonstop from Boston to the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2022, according to scheduling data from the aviation analytics company Cirium.

Meanwhile, Delta is also expanding its existing service from Detroit to both the Bahamas and Cancún (CUN). Boston-based flyers will also see more flights to Cancún, with Delta adding a second daily flight over the winter holidays.

Overall, this expansion should give diehard Delta flyers and travelers with Delta SkyMiles new, convenient ways to visit some of the coolest islands of the Caribbean this coming winter. Plus, we often see these new routes are bookable for even fewer points by turning to some of Delta's partner airlines like Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points.

Delta's hubs naturally get most of the love with these big network expansions, but the airline is also branching out into smaller, non-hub cities with some fun sunshine routes this winter. Starting Dec. 20, Delta will begin flying the following routes:

  • Austin (AUS) to Cancún (CUN): Daily through April 12
  • Austin (AUS) to Cabo San Lucas (SJD): Daily through Jan. 5
  • Nashville (BNA) to Cancún (CUN) Saturdays through April 12
  • Indianapolis (IND) to Cancún (CUN): Saturdays through April 12
  • Kansas City (MCI) to Cancún (CUN): Saturdays through April 12
  • Raleigh (RDU) to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU): Saturdays through April 12

Cities like Raleigh and Austin have become “focus cities” for Delta over the past few years, but nonstop Caribbean and Mexico service isn't something travelers in those cities are used to from the Atlanta-based airline. And for cities like Indianapolis, Nashville, and Kansas City, travelers might think they're seeing things when Delta pops up as an option for their sunny escape next winter.

To top it all off, the airline is also expanding many of its existing routes into destinations throughout the Caribbean like Cancún, Punta Cana (PUJ), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), St. Thomas, Nassau, Guatemala City (GUA), Turks & Caicos (PLS), San Salvador (SAL), Panama City (PTY), Belize (BZE), and Guadalajara (GDL).

Bottom Line

Delta will begin flying to St. Vincent & the Grenadines as well as Grenada next winter – part of a big Caribbean route expansion that will also add new routes like as Detroit (DTW) to Grand Cayman (GCM), Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Nassau (NAS), and more!
